DUBLIN!! Day 3 : Howth

We spent Day 3 in Howth! It was a beautiful little coastal city just southeast of Dublin. We took the DART train about 20 minutes out and were there. Almost immediately after getting of the train we walked into a huge harbor with big fishing rigs and sail boats! It was amazing. There were huge warf type walkways and you could go right out to the ocean and see a few islands in the distance with ruined castles and old houses. There were two older men sitting out on the rocks playing the accordion. It just made the whole moment perfect. We even saw some little harbor seals come up to the boats to look at us. We pretty much just spent an hour sitting on the rocks and walking between boats and staring out into the sea. It was so peaceful and beautiful. I could have stayed there forever.

The Howth habor.

Drive your car into the ocean?

After a while we walked into town, which was a cute little neighborhood type area with steep hills, little town houses, and a church. We grabbed some lunch at a local pub (Beef and Guinness pie = DELICIOUS) and kinda walked around. I felt a little bad, but I really wanted to see some glorious Irish hills to frolic in so I made everyone hike up the hills until we found one. I mean come on, I'm Irish, I'm in my homeland...I want some green meadows!!! We finally stumbled upon one and it was spectacular.

An old ruined church with a recent cemetary around it. There were actually Redmonds there. It was actually very moving.

When we got back we did a little souvenir hunting. Winona, Myles, and I went to St. Stephen's green and walked around. It was a neat little park at the end of the busy pedestrian street. We walked around, made Myles take pictures in front of flowers, saw some swans, went home, yelled at the English guys, and crashed.

We woke up at 3 am and caught our plane home.

All in all, a fabulous trip :D
